Q: What type of Spore do you run?

Spore CD, Creepy & Cute and Galactic Adventures on Origin.
My installation is a mess. Do not copy or refer to my setup. Just stick with Good Old Games or Origin.

Q: What are your computer specs?

Windows 10 Custom-Build PC - Ryzen 7 3800 X - RTX 2080 Super - 32GB RAM
My PC is hugely overkill for Spore, and is mainly built for rendering/processing.
You can run Spore on very light specs, the game was made in 2008.

Q: What are the recommended specs for Spore: Galactic Adventures?

Q: How do I download and install mods?

Downloading is as simple as hitting the “download” text that is usually available on the mod page. Installation is also very simple, and usually explained in the mod page.
Read the OP of any thread or page you’re downloading mods from.
If a mod page does not have a download link available, it either requires you to register an account to the website, or has been redirected elsewhere.

Q: What do I need to run mods?

A licensed copy of Spore, with the Galactic Adventures DLC.
Galactic Adventures is HIGHLY recommended due to the extra assets and data. Most modders do NOT make mods without Galactic Adventures, due to all the content they’d miss.

Q: Can I use Steam Spore to run mods?

Currently: Yes. The answer is always changing. Currently it's acceptable.

Q: Can I use Pirated Spore to run mods?

No, it’s highly unreliable and prone to crashing. The community won’t help you troubleshoot issues, either.
Spore goes on sale VERY OFTEN so get it for cheap!

Q: Where can I find mods for Spore?

Q: Why doesn't my mod work?

You probably installed it incorrectly, put it in the wrong folder, or tried run the ModAPI Easy Installer (if required) as an Administrator. Yes, that happens very frequently. For more concise answers and troubleshooting, ask the community at http://davoonline.com/phpBB3/index.php

Q: Why won’t my modded creations save?

Either get Dark Injection (which has a built-in Force Save function), or try following these instructions (image)
Note: When using Dark Injection, ALWAYS NAME YOUR CREATIONS. Saving a creation without any name WILL corrupt it and cause it to vanish.

Q: What would you recommend to use in terms of mods?

Q: Why is your Dark Injection so different to mine?

In older videos, I used unreleased beta versions to help test Dark Injection. Nowadays I use the same version that’s public to everyone. My background was a gift.

It’s what gives my creations more freedom, bigger boundaries, more parts, new armor, new abilities, new effects, invisible limbs, access to captain and cell parts, and so on. It’s overall just awesome if you want to make cool creatures.

Unknown: The original author has quit modding, but a similar mod is currently being re-developed by another.

Q: What version of Dark Injection does DarkEdgeTV use?

2019 DI 9.r Beta 2.3.2 - I used to use private beta versions in older videos, but nowadays I stick to what everyone else can use.

Q: How do I open the Dark Injection Installer? It’s a “.sporemod” file.

.sporemod files require the ModAPI Easy Installer to open, which will take you to Dark Injection’s installation path. You can download the ModAPI Easy Install on the same page as Dark Injection (see the above link).

Q: Opening the Dark Injection Installer gives me an error, stating “this operation requires elevation”

Double check that you have the latest version of both Dark Injection and the Spore ModAPI Launcher Kit. Update both and try again.

Q: Why can’t I save creations?

You’re likely running an out-dated version of Dark Injection. Update to the latest version and you should be fine.
ALWAYS NAME YOUR CREATONS WHEN SAVING or you may lose them after closing/crashing Spore!

Q: Why can’t I share my creations online?

It’s not possible, due to EA server security and regulations. It can’t be modded.

Q: The editor camera is messed up/off-centre, what do I do?

Make sure you’re running the latest version of Dark Injection, or update it.

Q: Why do my textures look different compared to other players?

Make sure you’re running the latest version of Dark Injection, or update it.

Q: Why are the Core Spore parts different colours?

Either, something went wrong during installation, you’re using an out-dated mirror of Dark Injection, or you followed an out-dated tutorial.

Q: How come “that one green foot” and “that one purple wing” are glitchy?

Make sure you’re running the latest version of Dark Injection, or update it.

Q: Why do the creature’s feet sink into the ground?

Unknown - It doesn’t look like it’ll be fixed, either. Sorry!

Q: Why are the parts invisible?

Either, something went wrong during installation, you’re using an out-dated mirror of Dark Injection, you followed an out-dated tutorial, or you do not have at least Patch 1.5.1 for Spore.

Q: Why aren’t the invisible parts invisible like in DarkEdgeTV’s videos?

In the installation, Dark Injection has an optional component called “InvisiblerLimbs”, enable that to activate Invisible Limbs. This is only useful AFTER the creation is complete, as you can not edit the limbs properly with the component active. I personally switch that component on and off in between videos. Yes, it’s tedious.

Q: Can you make Dark Injection available for Core Spore, or without Galactic Adventures?

Galactic Adventures. Imagine trying to drink from a water bottle, but it doesn’t have a lid nor cap, it’s just a sealed water container. Galactic Adventures is what allows Spore Modding to be a growing reality.

Q: Why does the Creature Stage crash whenever I die or breed?

It seems to only happen if you die while having packmates. If you're alone, you crash less. Get into the habit of CTRL+S to quicksave frequently.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I have not tested this mod, while TerasHD pointed out it soft-locked his game twice. If it happens to save just before you lose Tribal/Civ stage or you're in a bad situation, you're screwed. Alternatively, CTRL+S frequently to quicksave your game.
